I've always been impressed with a girl who can sing for her supper and get
breakfast as well.

I got some porn spam yesterday
as I moved the mouse up to the
top of Eudora to delete it, I
accidentally clicked on the
open pane, launching a gawd
awful installation on my computer
porn links and web dialers anyone?
well, I've got them
all over the damn place
finding the programs in the temp
folder and deleting them was nothing
disabling them in the boot menu
was also simple
what was hard was tracking down all
the registry keys and deleting them
as well
I tried deleting internet explorer
but found I couldn't - I thought
a simple reinstall would fix things
as right as rain but found that
IE6 knows that I have the latest
version and refuses to install again.
so, I ended up deleting the IE6 search
toolbar from the registry to get this
shit off my machine.
I guess I'll have to wait until there's
a new version of IE to install to fix
things.
it's all part of "bad billy's" plot to force you to get a new version
of IE. beware of Gates...

Forget that POS browser, just use Mozilla and say goodbye to pop-ups,
lack of features, and problems.
I'm using the beta of Safari, the new apple browser. kicks ass...hasn't
crashed on me once, and it loads pages on a dial-up connection much much
faster....

All I can recommend is that you try is Ad Aware (or similar program)
that might help clean up all the garbage. You can get it for free at
download.com
I'd stay away from Ad Aware. Spybot Search & Destroy is a lot better.
There happens to be a link for it on frankadelic.com...

I gotta go with Frank on this one. I use Spybot S&D, but tried a couple
others first. Adaware is actually spyware itself if I am not mistaken.
Another one I downloaded from download.com was a virus that Norton picked
up. Very aggravating. Spybot S&D is really easy, quick and thorough.

actually, I have both on my machine; sometimes spybot finds stuff that
ad-aware doesn't and vice versa.

Something similar happened to me on my old lap top.
I ended up having to do a full system restore...

**Was the open pane, the preview pane? If so, just close it down so
you don't accidently click on anything (as well as getting the
programs mentioned by the others).

Obviously, you weren't and you aren't. Or else you wouldn't have fallen
victim to a spam ploy.

Time to get off the mainframe and embrace a Microsoft-centric world....
