In the peliminary special, James Cromwell (George Sibley) says that the e-m
waves of SFU are "100's of light-years away from Earth).

Uh...sure. Marconi's first transmissions aren't even that far! Oh well, it
sounded nice.

I noticed that as well - he obviously doesn't know what a light year is
(or maybe he was drunk).

It's 1/3 less calories than a regular year.... Isn't it?

Perhaps he was speaking of his preliminary subspace transmissions, which are
part of the first phase of his Warp Program?
Strange, that he should not only outlive Ruth, but wind up rejuvinated by an
alien Companion and shack up on some asteroid with Sherriff Andy Taylors ex
girlfriend...

Just because he has played a scientist doesn't mean he is a scientist.
He probably can't work the navigation system in his car.

Never saw him play a scientist, just a crooked LA police captain and a
chief nerd's nerdy father - excellent as both.

Of course he's not a scientist, he's an actor. I'm not a scientist
either, but I understand what a light year is (seemingly along with most
peeps on the NG).

He invented the Warp drive in Star Trek XXVII or something. He also played
William Randolph Hearst in an HBO film about the making of Orson Welles'
Citizen Kane called RKO 281, which just happens to be running on HBO this
month.

And wasn't he the father of "Babe" in the movie of the same name?

Wasn't Babe a pig? So JC would have been the owner, not father (I
haven't seen the movie).

I hate "Star Trek" and everything about it, but this is still the
first thing I thought of. So very sad.
