Watching season 5, just watched Nate die after his dream of diving into the
ocean. Rather sad---

I've enjoyed this series very much and I enjoy reading the comments of fans
in this newsgroup.

Personally, I consider this series one of the finest productions ever on TV
and far better than most of what Hollywood produces. The characters are
complex and seem very real to me- I often feel like a fly on the wall.

I just finished the whole thing last friday... I watched the entire series
in about a month and I loved it.... Now that I'm done it's like losing a
good friend... All weekend long I just wanted more... and one thing that
helped was the very last disc has some great extra's to watch, and if I
really need even more I can watch a couple of the old episodes with the
commentaries on.... I'm not much of a reader, and I feel this was like
completing a wonderful novel... Joel

I didn't mention, but one of favorite things about the show are the dream
sequences- sleeping or just daydreaming that they're talking to a dead
person. Very imaginative. You can usually tell but they're great,
psychologically powerful- I wonder what Freud would think? <G>

Like, that last one that Nate had- dreaming he's gone to the beach with his
dad and Keith- Keith for the first time didn't look a dork- with the goatee,
hardly recognizable- then, and Nate's diving into the ocean is a rather
Buddhist/pantheist sense of his fate. I've always felt that way, without
being near the end...... Going to those Quaker events gave him his final
peace....

Wow, just finished the last episode- where we see the future of the family
and all their deaths- that was like an acid trip.

You struggle for several decades, then one day you just die.......

I don't generally watch TV, however I have been totally captivated by
SFU and rented the entire series over the last few months. The last few
episodes were well worth the wait.

Nate's vision is a reality, there is a web resource called Forest of
Memories that provides information and resources supporting the natural
burial movement in North America.

Forest of Memories
provides a comprehensive list of existing and proposed natural burial
grounds in both Canada and the USA, a natural burial research library
and information about caskets, shrouds and biodegradable urns.

In association with the Green Burial Council , Forest of Memories is
seeking public consultation to help develop standards and principles to
help guide the development of natural burial grounds in North America.

If you are interested in this burial option please visit Natural
Burial Standards and Certification Information Page and fill out
the consumer questionnaire.
